Gender Equalıty Strategy Was Signed And Published By The Management Board

GENDER EQUALITY STRATEGY DOCUMENT This document, which aims to demonstrate an understanding sensitive to gender equality within the framework of the activities of the Strategic Environmental Research Association (SERA), undertakes to act in a manner sensitive to gender equality in accordance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which Turkey signed in 1985, the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine (Oviedo Convention), which Turkey ratified in 2003, and the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention), which Turkey signed in 2011. The document, which aims to demonstrate an understanding sensitive to gender equality within the framework of the activities of the Strategic Environmental Research Association (SERA), commits to act in a manner sensitive to gender equality in accordance with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which Turkey signed in 1985, the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine (Oviedo Convention), which Turkey ratified in 2003, and the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention), which Turkey signed in 2011. In this context, SERA recognizes that gender inequality is a fundamental problem in all areas of social life and undertakes to carry out the following activities to realize an understanding sensitive to gender equality: - To work among its members to raise awareness on gender equality, - To take necessary measures to ensure that they do not use words and expressions, show attitudes and behaviors contrary to gender equality in scientific research, meetings and publication processes, - To clearly define violence against women, sexual harassment and sexual assault and gender-based intimidation (mobbing) as crimes in the Disciplinary Regulations and to make the necessary amendments to the regulations, - To carry out and support efforts to increase the proportion of women members involved in the activities of the Association and to create and operate mechanisms to encourage their active participation, - To take part in platforms where women are concentrated, especially for the protection of the environment and the sustainability of natural life, to establish and develop such platforms.
